Georgia Institute of Technology is a State University in Atlanta, Georgia that currently ranks at no. 34 in the Times Higher Education world rankings of universities.  “Tech”, as it is known affectionately to its alumni and to people in Georgia, has been successfully raising private funding for many decades through its Office of Development.  This office has a team of 95 persons – many of whom are based within the academic programs represented.   It also has a team of 8 corporate fundraisers, which works closely with staff in corporate partnerships team.  There is a separate division of international development, whose staff are based in the regions served and which also works closely with the teams working with companies.

Tech is one of the most successful examples of corporate fundraising in a public university in the USA and therefore provides some very good examples of how to manage the opportunities and challenges of corporate engagement, fundraising and partnerships in an international market place (the institution has also successfully raised funds from European companies).

Would your university be interested in exploring how it might derive more benefit from corporate partnerships and/or corporate fundraising?

Participation is free of charge.
